Rank trading improves

Like-for-like sales at Hard Rock Cafés during the first three months of 2000 were better than last year, owner Rank Group has said in a trading update.

The improving trend was the result of operational improvements put in place during the second half of 1999, Rank added.

In its holidays division, bookings are ahead of last year, with the exception of Butlin’s holiday camps. Warner and Oasis have traded well in the year to date.

Pub chain Tom Cobleigh also saw an improvement in like-for-like sales.
