Kenny Rogers ready to roast in UK
Kenny Rogers Roasters, one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the USA, has acquired sites in Southampton, Nottingham, Manchester and Liverpool which are set to open in early summer 1996.
The chicken rôtisserie chain, which combines take-home chicken with casual family dining at an average spend per head of £7-£10, had sales of $300m in the USA last year, up 160% on 1993.
It is looking to open 50 restaurants in the UK in the next three years through Malaysian-backed master franchisee Berjaya Restaurants.
Berjaya has retained agent King Sturge & Co in the UK to find sites for new-build 3,500sq ft restaurants on main roads or retail and leisure parks.
On larger sites such as Nottingham, it will develop its brand alongside Fuddruckers, another US chain.
