Mazard, the hotel management group, has taken over the running of the three-star Royal Chase Hotel in Shaftesbury, Dorset – its 15th property.
The addition of the 35-bedroom hotel is further evidence of a change of emphasis at Mazard, which is progressively taking on properties on behalf of owners rather than banks and receivers.
Over the past few months it has taken on a number of privately owned establishments, including Sopwell House at St Albans, the new Five Lakes Hotel, Golf & Country Club in Essex, and the Bay Tree Hotel in Burford, Oxfordshire.
At the Royal Chase, the Hunt family are said to have called in Mazard after deciding to take a back seat after 22 years to pursue other interests.
