Fifteen Cornwall has appointed Dave Meneer, marketing director of the Eden Project, as its new chief executive officer.

Meneer, who will take up the position later this month, joins the Jamie Oliver-inspired initiative after eight years with Eden.

He said: "This job offers a great opportunity to impact directly on the lives of young people in Cornwall, and to inspire others to have personal and professional ambitions and the confidence to pursue them."

Henry Ashworth, chairman of the Cornwall Foundation of Promise, which was instrumental in developing the Fifteen concept in Cornwall, added: "Meneer has a great outlook and understanding of Cornwall and the skills and experience to manage our existing team of nearly 60 staff and apprentices, as well as work on developing the ambitious plans we have for the future of the Cornwall Foundation of Promise."

Launched in January last year, Fifteen Cornwall selected 21 aspiring chefs from disadvantaged backgrounds to train at the Watergate Bay restaurant.

It recently celebrated the graduation of its first 12 apprentices who gained NVQ level two qualifications.
