Acclaimed French chef Joël Robuchon’s restaurant at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas has debuted with three stars in the city’s first Michelin guide.
Michelin published its inaugural guides for Las Vegas and Los Angeles last week, with Robuchon, who also has restaurants in cities including London, Paris, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong, being the only chef to be awarded the top accolade of three stars in both cities.
Three restaurants in Las Vegas won two stars including Alex, Guy Savoy and Picasso, while 12 restaurants won one star, including another Robuchon venue, L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon, also at the MGM Grand, and Nobu.
Alain Ducasse’s Mix Restaurant in Las Vegas also gained one star, meaning the French chef has regained his title as the most Michelin-starred chef at 13 stars, after Gordon Ramsay recently tied with him at 12.
In Los Angeles three restaurants picked up two stars, with 15 eateries winning one star.
Both the Los Angeles and Las Vegas guides go on sale this week.
Last month, Gordon Ramsay’s eponymous restaurant at the London hotel in Midtown, Manhattan, debuted with two stars in the Michelin New York 2008 guide.
