Sustainability continues to be a buzzword in the hospitality industry which is why Hotelympia is this year launching The Sustainable Futures Seminar Programme.
The Sustainable Futures Seminar Programme will inform visitors what the industry is doing to provide a socially responsible future.
It promises to inspire lively debate with discussions on key issues such as food miles, ethical sourcing, carbon footprints and climate change.
Toby Wand, exhibition director, said: “There is bigger issue than that of sustainability. As the key industry show in 2008 we felt it was important we gave our visitors the chance to engage in debate and learn more about the key issues of the day.”
Heading up the five-day seminar programme is CESA chairman Andrew Jones, who will be discussing sustainability in relation to purchasing and supplying equipment.
Unilever Foodsolutions category marketing director Susan Gregory will highlight how large global companies can work with third parties, such as the Rainforest Alliance, to achieve their sustainability goals.
Recycling and reducing energy usage will be the focus of the seminar Greener Food/Better Business by the London Food Link and London Sustainability Exchange, while ACM Waste Management chairman Barry Bolton will examine the link between waste management and climate change.
A series of panel discussions will run alongside the seminar program, each comprising four speakers, to offer an unbiased view of the environment and the responsibilities of business owners to support sustainability.
The seminars will be held in the Sustainable Futures Theatre in the North Hall.
Tickets to Hotelympia cost £30 but you can book a free ticket by pre-registering online for the UK’s premier hospitality and foodservice event, which takes place from 17 February to 21 February at Excel, London.
