Photographer Sam Bailey killed in parachuting accident

Caterer contributor Sam Bailey has died following a skydiving accident at the weekend. The photographer, who landed awkwardly from a 12,500ft parachute jump, died in hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Bailey, who was in his 30s, was well-known in the industry for his food photography and had worked on several cookery books including John Campbell's Formulas for Flavour and textbooks Practical Cookery and Advanced Practical Cookery.

He had a passion for skydiving and had completed close to 1,000 parachute jumps. He was completing his third parachute jump of the day when the accident happened. He leaves his wife, Sarah, who is also a keen skydiver.
