London buyer brings exotic meats to waterside Devon pub
Steve Sussams has introduced exotic meats such as crocodile, impala and ostrich to the Royal Dart, his newly-acquired waterside pub in the Devon yachting centre of Kingswear.
The pub overlooks the River Dart, is adjacent to the Lower Ferry crossing to Dartmouth, and lies next to the terminal of the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway.
The property comprises a ground-floor open-plan bar and dining area to seat more than 40 customers, and a first-floor, 50-seat restaurant with balcony that overlooks the river. There is also potential to create a double-bedroom bedsit with en-suite bathroom.
Sussams was most recently involved in three licensed business in London, including two in Canary Wharf.
Food accounted for around 30% of the pub's annual turnover of £135,000 (ex-VAT).
Property agent Bettesworths sold the free-of-tie, 18-year leasehold (from November 2002) of an asking price of £20,000 in annual rental on behalf of Mark and Aileen Kimber.
