Farmers buy closed pub restaurant in Powys
Local beef and sheep farmers Erfyl and Tracy Lewis are the new owners of the New Inn, a freehouse and restaurant in the Powys hamlet of Llanbadarn Fynydd that sits on the Glynwr's Way National Trail.
The business, which is 12 miles south of Newtown, has been closed for the past year. The Lewis' intend to run the property alongside their farm, offering B&B facilities to walkers and horse riders and offering food (including their own meat) all day during the summer.
The detached character building occupies a three-acre site that embraces a grassed area, woodland, a waterfall and a large barn.
It offers four letting bedrooms, three-bedroom owners' accommodation, and four trading areas (including a function room and a conservatory restaurant) that can seat a total of 150 customers. The Lewises intend to seek planning permission to convert the barn, which is sizeable enough to add up to four more B&B units.
The Bristol office of Christie + Co sold the property off an asking price of £295,000 on behalf of a high street bank.
