Local operators buy listed Borders hotel
The Hodgson family are the new owners of Mansfield House hotel on the outskirts of the Borders town of Hawick in Roxburghshire.
Mansfield House is a Category C Historic Scotland Listed Victorian mansion, retaining a wealth of original features such as moulded ceilings, decorated cornices and rich woodwork.
It offers 12 en-suite bedrooms to sleep 30 guests, a 40-seat dining room with marble fireplace and brass chandeliers, a bar, and a residents' lounge.
The self-contained Thornwood function suite has its own lounge-bar and can hold up to 200 guests. There is parking space for 20 cars outside.
The business achieved a profit (before depreciation and finance charges) of £129,940 on a net turnover of £417,670 in the year to 31 May, 2007.
The Edinburgh office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the feuhold off a guide price of more than £725,000 on behalf of Ian and Sheila Mackinnon, who have owned the property for the past 24 years.
