Marriott hotels in the UK are looking to recruit six voluntary hotel inspectors from the general public.
The company hopes that the so called OHotel Inspectors will help to keep their 41 UK hotels, which have recently undergone a £120m refurbishment, in tip top shape.
A panel of independent hoteliers, including Ruth Watson from the Channel 5 series The Hotel Inspector and Channel 4’s Country House Rescue, will select the successful inspectors who will be notified by 22 February.
Once recruited, each inspector will be required to visit two hotels, for two nights each, enjoy the facilities available and report back their experiences to Marriott.
The company is specifically looking for people with different areas of expertise and needs that are representative of the group’s varied guest base, which includes everyone from the business traveller to the weekend leisure breaker.
Following press publicity, more than 1,100 people so far have applied for the positions.
“We’re all reviewers these days, whether it’s recommending a hotel to friends or sharing our thoughts on one of the many review websites,” said Osama Hirzalla, vice-president brand marketing and eCommerce, Europe. “By offering the public the opportunity to become Marriott Hotel Inspectors, we are inviting their valuable feedback on our newly refurbished properties.
“Their comments will be used to help ensure that our standards continue to remain high that the needs of our valued business and leisure guests continue to be met.
“Overall, this is an innovative way to communicate Marriott’s continuing investment in its hotels and demonstrates the genuine value we find in the feedback of our guests.”
