London's Royal Park hotel sold to Indian company
Indian company Bird Hospitality Services (BHS) has bought the four-AA-star, 48-bedroom Royal Park hotel in London.
It is the first international acquisition for BHS, which is the hospitality arm of the Bird Group.
The hotel, which is comprised of three mid-19th-century townhouses in Lancaster Gate, adjacent to Hyde Park, is to be managed by US-based Interstate Hotels and Resorts.
Ankur Bhatia, executive director of the Bird Group, said the Royal Park Hotel would provide the group with an opportunity to establish itself within the hospitality sector beyond India, where it is currently developing five hotels in conjunction with Dusit International.
"The fabulous location, above-average room sizes compared with London standards, and the typically British character of the Royal Park hotel offer great potential for future development and expansion.
BHS intends to improve the property, which opened as a hotel in 2004, and add a restaurant by the autumn.
