Charlton House has extended its contract with the National Assembly for Wales (NAW) for a further five years in a deal worth £3.75m.
The lengthy tender process saw the independent caterer see off competition from three major rival operators. The new contract will officially commence on 5 September.
Charlton House first started work at the NAW in 2006 and the on-site team of 30 staff will continue to provide catering and hospitality services for 650 people daily, plus visitors and guests.
Operations include a restaurant, a retail outlet, a public café and two Members’ Tea Rooms – one within the Assembly and the other within the Senedd building overlooking Cardiff Bay.
The caterers also manages extensive hospitality services for many high-profile events.
Monmouthshire-born Tim Jones, co-founder and chairman of CH&Co, the group name behind the Charlton House brand, said: “It makes me very proud to be involved in such a prestigious Welsh contract and very honoured that our client at the NAW has made this decision.

We have been able to demonstrate significant cost savings to ensure value for money, while keeping food and service standards consistently high.”
He added that Charlton House’s use of local suppliers is key to the success of this catering operation and it will continue to showcase the very best of Welsh produce.
