Colliers to sell four Scarborough hotels on behalf of administrators

Colliers International has been appointed to sell four Scarborough hotels in the English Rose chain, by administrators MCR and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The sale of the Royal and Clifton hotels is being led by Julian Troup, head of UK hotels agency at Colliers, on behalf of MCR.

The Royal hotel is a 19th century resort hotel situated above South Bay of the North Yorkshire seaside town, with 110 letting bedrooms plus nine suites and spa fitness facilities. The 70-bedroom Clifton overlooks North Bay.

Troup said he is anticipating a great deal of interest from a variety of types of buyers, with strong interest already shown by corporate purchasers.

Colliers director Peter Bean is in charge of the sale of Wrea Head Country House hotel and Hackness Grange hotel for PwC, following its appointment as administrator for Wrea Head Hotel and English Rose Hotels respectively.

The 19th century Wrea Head hotel (pictured), located on the outskirts of Scarborough, has 20 en suite bedrooms while the 33-bedroom Hackness Grange is a few miles away in the North York Moors National Parl.

Bean said: "Wrea Head and Hackness Grange are very attractive properties that are superbly located for developing a high-quality business and they will appeal to private buyers and small groups alike."
