Hilton Worldwide in partnership to deliver 100 apprenticeships at National Football Centre

Hilton Worldwide has joined forces with Burton and South Derbyshire College and the Football Association (FA) to launch an apprenticeship scheme at St George's Park, the FA's new National Football Centre in Burton-on-Trent.

The partnership will guarantee the creation of 100 apprenticeships over a 10-year period. Ten places will be available this year: six at the two hotels due to open at the centre in August - the 142-bedroom Hilton and the 86-bedroom Hampton by Hilton - with a further four roles being created at the FA.

Greg Crawford, general manager of the Hilton and Hampton by Hilton St Georges Park, said the apprenticeships would provide an exciting opportunity for young people who have a passion for hospitality to kick off their careers at what is an unique location of national importance to the UK sport and hospitality industries.

"There will be a variety of roles on offer at the Hilton and Hampton by Hilton and we are looking forward to working closely with the FA and Burton and South Derbyshire College to make sure the scheme goes from strength to strength for many years to come."

The hotel apprenticeships will include one kitchen apprenticeship and five hospitality apprenticeships, with all roles leading to NVQ qualifications. Meanwhile, the FA apprenticeships will include two grounds apprentices and further roles within the FA Learning and Logistics departments.

David Sheepshanks, chairman of St Georges Park, added: "There are few more exciting projects in the country at this time than St Georges Park. For anyone wanting a career in the sports industry, the apprenticeship opportunities with the FA and our partners are truly unique."
