Wyndham to launch first hotel in Scotland
The first five-star property from Wyndham Hotels and Resorts to be developed in Scotland is set to open on the outskirts of Dundee in 2015.
Located next the Forbes of Kingennie Resort, the Wyndham Grand The Angus will become only the second Wyndham property in the UK, alongside the Wyndham Grand London Chelsea Harbour.
MAP Property & Leisure Developments Angus (MAPPLD) will launch the hotel after signing a franchise agreement with the Wyndham Hotel Group.
The 187-bedroom property, which will include 10 two-bedroom luxury lodges, will sit alongside an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Darren Clarke, last year's Open champion.
It will feature a fine-dining restaurant for up to 50 people, 130-cover restaurant, hotel bar seating 80 guests, clubhouse bar for 100 and extensive meeting and conference rooms. There will also be a spa with eight treatment rooms, 20-metre infinity pool, gym and two dance studios.
"Expanding our namesake brand within Europe, Middle East and Africa is an integral part of Wyndham Hotel Group's overall growth strategy," explained Joel Goldman, the company's vice-president of development for the UK and Western Europe.
"Scotland is a world-renowned golfing destination and this new resort will sit at the epicentre of Scottish golf, just a few miles from Carnoustie and near St Andrews and Gleneagles."
Donald Paterson, group managing director of MAPPLD, added: "We are thrilled to be finally developing this vision to create an outstanding resort in Angus which will bring enormous economic benefits to the area for many years to come. From the construction and development phase, this project will provide hundreds of employment opportunities.
The hotel will join the Wyndham Grand Collection, an upscale brand within Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, which has more than 7,150 hotels worldwide.
