Crown hotel in Bawtry changes name as Camelot bids for Triple Crown at St Leger

The Crown hotel in Bawtry has been renamed the Triple Crown Hotel Bawtry in time for the St Leger race meet in Doncaster this week.

The temporary name is in honour of racehorse Camelot, which will run in the big race on St Leger Saturday. If Camelot wins, he will receive the Triple Crown title.

Craig Dowie, managing director of the Crown hotel, commented: "Leger week in Doncaster is always amazing for us.

"We are busy with owners, trainers, jockeys, TV crew and also people attending the races that stay, eat and drink in our hotel. It is made extra special this year with Camelot running for the Triple Crown - so we thought what a great way to celebrate such a great time by renaming the hotel."

The Triple Crown is made up of three races for three-year old colts: the 2,000 Guineas, run over one mile at Newmarket; the Epsom Derby, over one mile and four furlongs; and the Ladbrokes St Leger, run in Doncaster over one mile, six furlongs and 132 yards.

Winning all three of these races is considered the greatest accomplishment of a thoroughbred racehorse

The Crown is the preferred partner hotel to Doncaster Racecourse. The St Leger Festival starts today and runs to 15 September.
