Surrey hotel Great Fosters to open two new restaurants in 2013

Surrey hotel Great Fosters in Egham is set to open two new restaurants next spring.

The luxury hotel, housed in a former royal hunting lodge dating back to 1550, will open the Estate Grill and the Tudor Room at Great Fosters next March.

The Estate Grill will be a casual restaurant serving a simple and seasonal menu, including salads and grilled meats and fish from the Josper grill. It will have a new, separate entrance through a cobbled courtyard.

Meanwhile the Tudor Room will offer a formal dining experience in a lavishly decorated dining room, featuring silk-lined walls and a 17th century tapestry, seating 24 guests. Here executive chef Simon Bolsover and his brigade will create a fine dining menu.

Great Fosters will utilise its 50 acres of gardens and parkland to rear livestock such as Gloucester Old Spot pigs, Longhorn cattle and Badger Face sheep, all of which will be used at the two restaurants. The existing apiary will also be expanded, as will the greenhouses, where fruit and vegetables are grown. There's also a dedicated kitchen garden, located in front of the Estate Grill.

Great Fosters is overseen by managing director Richard Young, who first started his career at Great Fosters in the 1980s and went on to manage properties such as Lords of the Manor and South Lodge Hotel before returning to Great Fosters in 1998.
