Former San Carlo chef to head new Italian restaurant in Soho

A new Italian restaurant called Primo is set to open in Soho this December, with executive chef Claudio Barchieri, previously the executive chef at No5 Cavendish Square at the helm.

The Shaftesbury Avenue site will offer a menu of classic Italian dishes.

Barchieri trained as a chef in Milan before moving to London and was previously head chef at San Carlo in Highgate.

Throughout the 70-seater restaurant, privately owned, there will be artwork on display courtesy of Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones.

Primo will act as the "primary exhibition space" for Wood's work.

Situated in the former location of Incognico, restaurant will also feature a traditional Italian cichetti bar, where guests can enjoy a selection of light bites and watch the chefs at work. There is also a private dining room capable of accomodating 20 people.
