Tune Hotels opens in Edinburgh
Malaysian group Tune Hotels
Located opposite Haymarket Station, the Tune Hotel Haymarket was officially launched by tourism minister, Fergus Ewing. It offers rooms from £25 a night and joins the group's four existing hotels in London.
The property has a different look to the company's other hotels, with a specially-commissioned Tune Hotel tartan providing a contemporary Scottish theme to the furnishings.
Mark Lankester, group chief executive of Tune Hotels, said that entering the Scottish market was an important business move for the group.
"Edinburgh is an immensely important trade and tourism hub and we're excited to take part in and contribute to its continued success. Further Scottish development is definitely on the cards as we look to introduce the brand to a number of Scottish cities."
Tune Hotel's, which was founded by Tony Fernandes, the owner of Queen's Park Rangers FC, and Kamarudin Meranun, is looking to open more hotels in the UK, including a 127-bedroom property in Liverpool. It currently has 27 hotels worldwide across five countries. Later this year will see the launch of Tune Hotels in Melbourne, Australia and Ahmedabad, India.
