Michelin-starred Crown at Whitebrook closes due to poor trading
The Michelin-starred Crown at Whitebrook in Monmouthshire, Wales, has closed due to poor trading.
Staff, including executive chef James Sommerin, were informed yesterday that the restaurant would be closed with immediate effect.
The restaurant with rooms had held a Michelin star since 2007, longer than any other restaurant in Wales. It held three AA rosettes and had been named in TheSunday Times Food List 2012.
When Caterer and Hotelkeeper contacted the restaurant a spokesperson said that the closure was down to cash flow issues.
She added: "The staff were informed just yesterday afternoon. All the staff have gone, it's completely closed. It's very sad."
