Marco Pierre White has opened a new restaurant in Exeter.
Marco’s New York Italian, sited next to the new Hampton by Hilton, Exeter Airport hotel in Clyst Honiton, is a 92-cover restaurant aimed at the family market.
The menu comprises American-Italian dishes made using local produce, while the restaurant is styled with checked black and white flooring and red gingham napkins to replicate New York Italian eateries. It will be operated by hotel management company Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
“I have been to many Italian restaurants in New York so for me making sure the atmosphere is right is vitally important as it sends a clear message to the diner that there is a strong passion for the food, quality of service and overall dining experience,” commented White.
“This new restaurant is all about providing a place where people can go for some nice food and a nice bottle of wine in a relaxed, affordable and family-friendly setting.”
Primi dishes include chargrilled asparagus, poached egg, parmesan crust, antipasto misto or prosciutto, salami with melon while the main courses has a selection of pastas, risotto, pizzas, burgers, steaks and ribs.
Desserts include Tiramisu, New York Cheesecake and “bongo bongo” (profiteroles filled with ice cream and Italian candied fruit with hot chocolate sauce).
Nick Taplin from Interstate Hotels added: “Marco has taken a lot of interest in the new restaurant and has been very much hands on with its design and lay out. His level of detail is amazing and will add to people’s experience now that it’s open.
“For him one of the most important aspects of any restaurant is the welcome on arrival, the environment customers sit in and the service that they’re given so we’ve been careful to make sure the new restaurant reflects that.”
