Hoax Liverpool – the first of a new chain of luxury hostels – has opened in the city, opposite the Cavern Club where the Beatles once played.

Incorporating the Hopskotch Street Kitchen and Bar, the hostel is a joint venture between Starboard Hotels and Union Hanover, funded by BridgePoint Ventures and IPIN Global. The new brand intends to provide a fresher and more vibrant alternative to budget hotels and plans to open in key tourist cities throughout the UK and Europe.

Developed in the former Kansas Buildings tea warehouse which was later used as Wade Smith department store, Hoax Liverpool has 282 beds.

Hopskotch is providing a selection of international street food prepared by chef Craig Sallery, while the Hatch is a performance space offering local and international artists a platform to perform in the heat of Liverpool’s music hub.

Paul Payne, general manager of Hoax Liverpool said it was great to see the end product after a lot of hard work.

“As a result of the fantastic team we have here, from the construction team, right through to front of house staff, everyone involved has played a key role in producing a unique product which we are all very excited to be a part of and will bring something new to Liverpool.”
