Longshot Country Inns is to open its fifth Bel and the Dragon site, this time in Churt, Surrey.
Like its sister venues the menu at Bel and The Dragon will focus on British food. It will have 13 rooms – two singles and 11 doubles.
Dishes include sustainable fish pie and pan roasted Atlantic cod with wild samphire and baby clams. The menu will also offer rotisserie cooked items including roasted suckling pig and roasted Creedy Carver duck.
House wines will be served from a magnum and customers charged according to how much they have drunk.
The new site has been designed by Nicola Harding. It will feature simple decor with clean lines and a classic feel.
Longshot, set up in 1994 by Joel Cadbury and Ollie Vigors, has had interests in a range of restaurants, clubs and pubs including the Groucho Club and London’s first 24-hour restaurant. It sold most of its assets in 2007 but acquired the Bel and the Dragon group from Orchid in 2010.
It recently hit the headlines after a decision approving its £50m to turn Lord Beaverbrook’s former Surrey home Cherkley Court into a hotel, health club and spa and high-end golf course was quashed in the High Court.
The four other Bel and the Dragon sites are in Cookham, Godalming, Reading and Windsor.
