Auction of contents of the Lanesborough hotel announced

The five-star, 93-bedroom Lanesborough hotel in London, which is set to close in December for a major renovation, has announced plans to auction its furnishings and fittings.

Original and reproduction period furnishings, together with authentic Regency artwork will go under the hammer at the property in an auction which will be screened live on the internet.

More than 3,000 lots will feature items from the bedrooms and all public areas including private dining rooms, the Library Bar and Apsleys restaurant.

Geoffrey Gelardi, managing director of the hotel, said the renovation of the hotel has created an opportunity "to purchase a piece of the hotel's history as we pave the way for a new chapter for the Lanesborough".

The sale of items is to be conducted by Pro Auction between 9 and 13 December prior to the hotel's closure for around nine months on 20 December. Viewing will take place on 7 and 8 December, by appointment only, while virtual tours of the bedrooms are available online.

Mark Flynn of Pro Auction said: "This really is going to be an exceptional event presenting a rare opportunity to acquire quality furnishings from one of the world's leading hotels in the lead up to refurbishment. It is possible for bidders to buy the entire contents of the bedrooms with a range of options to attract a variety of buyers and scales of purchase."

Catalogues are available by calling 020 7206 2690 or via download from www.thelanesboroughsale.com
