Caterer and Hotelkeeper wins Mind Media Award

Caterer and Hotelkeeper was honoured at last night's Mind Media Awards 2013.

The publication picked up the Print Campaign award for a series of hard-hitting articles, which ran over four issues during the summer of 2012.

The Open Minds campaign intended to raise the awareness of the extent of mental health issues within the hospitality industry and go some way towards breaking down the taboos surrounding the subject.

Janet Harmer, hotels editor who helped co-ordinate the campaign, said she was thrilled to pick up the award on behalf of the magazine.

"For an industry that is all about looking after guests and customers, we wanted to highlight that more needed to be done about looking after employees who may be struggling with poor mental health. Hopefully we may have encouraged some employers to think about how they can create a more supportive working environment when necessary."

Caterer and Hotelkeeper was selected as the winner of the Print Campaign category over entries from Farmers Weekly, Glamour, Sunday Mirror and The Times.

Now in their 20th year, the Mind Media Awards are organised by the Mind mental health charity and this year were held at the BFI Southbank, London.

Other winners included BBC Two's Newsnight for "Postpartum Psychosis", BBC One for Casualty, and the Purple Persuasion blog for the digital award.
