Go-ahead given for hotel and restaurants at Liverpool’s Cains Brewery Village

Go-ahead given for hotel and restaurants at Liverpool’s Cains Brewery Village

Operators are being sought for a boutique hotel and restaurants which are set to be developed within a Grade-II-listed brewery in Liverpool city centre.

Planning permission has been granted for the £150m development of Cains Brewery Village, a tourism, leisure and retail attraction in the city’s Baltic Quarter. The first phase of the one million sq ft site, which will include a 94-bedroom hotel, courtyard bistro bar, restaurants and an open-plan retail hall for artisan food producers, is expected to be completed by summer 2016.

The development will secure the future of Liverpool’s iconic beer brand within a new brewery, museum and event centre, featuring a Sky Bar, while the existing Brewery Tap pub will be restored.

Also included in the plan are a four-screen independent art-house cinema, supermarket, beauty and fitness centre, up to 775 homes or 2,500 student bedrooms and 500-plus car parking spaces.

Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson said: “The Cains Brewery Village scheme will transform one of the city’s most important historic buildings and create a new tourist destination capable of holding food, craft and cultural events which will complement the city’s existing retail and leisure offer.”
