New general manager for Talbot Hotel Yorkshire

The Talbot Hotel in Malton, North Yorkshire has appointed David Macdonald as its new general manager.

Set to join the four-star, 26-bedroom hotel on 13 January, Macdonald, a 2011 Acorn Award winner will oversee the recently-refurbished property which incorporates a 70-seat restaurant partnered by local chef and BBC Saturday Kitchen presenter James Martin.

He joins the hotel from his previous post as general manager of the York Hotel Du Vin & Bistro, where he managed 50 staff. A graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University, he has worked at Malmaison and Hotel Du Vin & Bistro since 2001, including stints at the Hotel Du Vin in Newcastle and the Malmaison in Glasgow.

The £4m refurbishment of the hotel owned by the Fitzwilliam Estate â€' provided the opportunity to invite Malton-born Martin to open a restaurant in this home town.
