The Restaurant Group set for record profit

The Restaurant Group has predicted that it will achieve record profit for 2013 having boosted turnover by 9%.

Although it's full results won't be announced until March the group, which operates more than 400 restaurants including Frankie & Benny's and Garfunkel's, said that operating margins were expected to be ahead of predictions.

It revealed that turnover for the 52 weeks to 29 December 2013 was 9% ahead of 2012, while like-for-like sales were 3.5% up.

Some 35 new restaurants were opened in 2013, which were said to be trading well. The group is planning a further 36 to 43 new sites this year.

Chief executive Andrew Page said: "In 2013, The Restaurant Group again delivered another excellent performance with increased sales, margins and record profits.

Our value for money offerings and brands with wide appeal encouraged more customers to dine in our restaurants and enjoy our hospitality."

He confirmed that profit would be well ahead of 2012.

Page added: "Last year we asked a lot of our people and the TRG team responded magnificently to deliver these excellent results. I am extremely grateful to them and know that their focus is now directed towards delivering another great result in 2014."
