San Carlo to open third Cicchetti site in September

Restaurant group San Carlo is set to open the third branch of its Cicchetti brand in London's Covent Garden in September this year.

The restaurant group, which already has Cicchetti sites in Manchester and London Piccadilly, will offer small plates of regionally sourced, seasonal Italian food.

As with previous Cicchetti sites, chef Aldo Zilli will be collaborating with the brand on the new restaurant's menu.

"I am extremely excited to be part of this new venture with the San Carlo Group as they always bring the best to the table," Zilli said.

Meanwhile, owner Carlo Distefano added: "For more than 2,000 years the Italian people have understood how to use the best that bountiful Mother Nature has to offer and to transform even the simplest of ingredients into small delicacies; this is what I am passionate about conveying throughout my restaurants and the new Covent Garden venture will be no exception."

The new opening will be the group's 14th UK restaurant. In addition to San Carlo restaurants in Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, and Leicester, as well as the two Cicchetti sites, the group has: Signor Sassi in London, Fumo in Birmingham, San Carlo Fiorentina at Manchester Airport, Flying Pizza in Leeds, San Carlo Bottega in Selfridges in Manchester, and San Carlo - Le Petit Rouge in Leicester.

The group also has a number of international franchise sites in the Middle East and Asia.
