Works from celebrated conceptual artist David Shrigley are set to transform the newly refurbished Gallery restaurant at Sketch, London.

Launching tomorrow (6 June) following a redesign by architect India Mahdavi, the restaurant will feature 239 new works or original drawings from Glasgow-based and Turner Prize-nominated Shrigley.

The exhibition will continue to the tables where ceramics, manufactured by Caverswall, will feature Shrigley's caustic drawings and texts.

A new summer afternoon tea menu, served on Shrigley's ceramics, will include pistachio macaroons, almond and red berry tartlet, a blueberry éclair, strawberry cheesecake in a glass, meringa tarta, raspberry meringue, malabar marshmallows and Sketch opera.

Mahdavi new interior is an updated brasserie design with a contemporary splash of pink on the walls and velvet-covered custom-made furniture.

Shrigley said that he was delighted to be working with Sketch on such "an exciting commission".

"It will be the first artwork that I have made that can go in the dishwasher," he explained. "It will be very clean artwork."

All ceramics are exclusive to Sketch and will available to purchase online through the Sketch website.

The restaurant's refurbishment has coincided with the introduction of new uniforms for the Galley restaurant staff from fashion designer Richard Nicol. The females will wear a play on Nicoll's signature t-shirt dress; while the males will dress in grey boiler-suit.

Sketch was launched in 2002 by restaurateur Mourad Mazouz and chef Pierre Gagnaire, as a destination for food, art and music. The venue has since hosted over 50 exhibitions by artists including Carsten Nicolai, John Baldessari, Jonas Mekas, Silvie Fleury, Mary Ellen Bute, Charles & Ray Eames and Michael Nyman.
