Waitrose Good Food Guide 2015 reveals regional restaurants of the year

Charlotte's Bistro in Chiswick, the Spiced Pear in Yorkshire and Lunya in Liverpool have been named amongst the regional winners of the Waitrose Good Food Guide 2015 Readers' Restaurant of the Year.

Now in their seventh year, the awards were nominated by 30,000 members of the public, who submitted the names of their favourite independent restaurants. The guide stipulates that the sites must offer regional and local produce where possible.

Other winners included Carters of Moseley, Birmingham; James Street South, Belfast; Bar 44, Cowbridge; and Menu Gordon Jones, Bath.

Each winner will feature in the 2015 edition of the Guide, which is published in September 2014. The overall award-winner is set to be revealed on 1 September.

Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor of the Good Food Guide, said: "It is an exciting time to eat out in the UK. The response [this year] has been tremendous - a bumper crop of nominations from an army of loyal fans…these are the fantastic places that have won our readers' hearts this year.

"By understanding the way we want to eat now, and judging their market exactly, each winner had a simple recipe for success that made them stand out against some very strong competition."

The Good Food Guide has existed for 64 years, and is currently owned by Waitrose. It includes independent reviews of restaurants across the UK, including cafes, pubs, casual sites and fine dining outlets.
