Hotel restaurants invited to attend sustainability seminar

Hotel restaurants looking to improve their sustainability credentials are invited to attend a seminar organised by the Considerate Hoteliers and the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA).

The Five Star Values: Sustainability in Hotel Dining event will offer practical advice on how to reduce food waste, cut energy bills, and source local food. It will be held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge hotel in London, on 17 July.

Speakers from three-star SRA establishments, including the Bingham in Richmond and the Lancaster London, will advise on how to run a sustainable business and engage with local communities.

Hoteliers will be able to pick up practical advice on sustainability and environmentally-helpful practices, tailored to their business.

Mark Linehan, managing director of the SRA, said: "We know from our experience of working with restaurants and food service businesses across the spectrum, that each sector has its own needs and challenges.

"We are working with an increasing number of hotel restaurants who are responding to consumer demand and putting sustainability at the very heart of their business. This seminar will demonstrate the recipe for success."

The SRA supports restaurant businesses in their aims to become more sustainable, and awards "stars" from one to three to establishments who satisfy their criteria. Considerate Hoteliers encourages operators to adopt sustainable, socially-responsible practices and offers workshops and online tools to help.

Tickets for the seminar are available from here, or from Vanessa Lye on 020 7479 4224, or by email on vanessa@thesra.org.
