Bella Italia to open 100 sites in five years

Bella Italia is set to open 100 new restaurants over the next five years, now that owner Tragus has restructured and reduced its debt burden.

Adviser Cushman & Wakefield has been appointed to help the chain identify sites for its expansion.

The brand currently has 90 restaurants throughout the UK in high streets, retail and leisure parks.

Tragus recently hoisted the ‘for sale' sign over its Strada brand after control of the group passed from Blackstone to Apollo Global management.

It also initiated CVAs for a number of its Bella Italia and Café Rouge sites with the aim of exiting 30-40 uneconomic leases.

Cushman & Wakefield said that Tragus has now secured £100m worth of funding for Bella Italia to continue its major refurbishment and acquisition programme.
