New steak and lobster chain Bourgee launches first site
A new steak and lobster restaurant chain called Bourgee is set to open its first site in Southend, Essex, this September.
Aiming to be an affordable chain, accessible to everyone, the restaurant will be headed up by chef Mark Baumann, a Great British Master Chef, and is co-owned by James Welling.
The £1m venue, which is to describe itself as a ‘luxe lounge', is aiming to be the flagship site for what is expected to become a chain, and is situated on the Southend seafront amid existing development. The deliberately-small menu will feature lobster and steak, including UK lobster and beef from northern Spain, cooked in a Josper grill.
Another site is expected for Billericay, also in Essex.
Co-owners and directors Baumann and Welling said: "We are thrilled to finally see our vision of the Bourgee concept launch in the UK and are confident that our innovative menus, sumptuous and vibrant destinations, coupled with our sensible pricing strategy, will strike a chord with diners across the country."
