Manchester Hoteliers Association Awards set to return for eighth year

The Manchester Hoteliers Association Awards are set to return for their eighth year, with two new award categories.

There will now be six awards categories, including the two new ones. These are Employee of the Year (Green Passion), which will recognise an individual contributing to eco-friendly practices, and Outstanding Personal Contribution, which will commend an inspirational employee for however they have become known, such as through charity work, or even by overcoming personal challenges.

The other categories include New Star of the Year; Employee of the Year (Front of House); Employee of the Year (Back of House), and the Lifetime Achiever award, which is given to an industry employee with over ten years' experience. The evening will also present the Emerging New Talent award, which will seek to recognise a rising star within the Manchester College's current student body.

Set to take place on 24 October at the Palace hotel, the black tie ball is expecting over 600 guests in attendance, and will raise money for industry charity Hospitality Action. It is supported by World Class Service.

Entries for the awards are still being accepted at the MHA website here.

Jack Carney, principal from the Manchester College, commented on the Emerging New Talent Award, calling it a "one to watch". He said: "Our calibre of intake is second to none, so choosing an overall winner will prove a real challenge for the judges."

Tracy Waddacor, managing director at World Class Service, said: "These awards are quite simply growing from strength to strength and the calibre of entries we see firmly represents what a thriving hospitality industry we have in Manchester. We're excited to be launching two new categories, and look forward to…meeting a fresh new pool of talent from the industry."

The Manchester Hoteliers Association aims to represent hoteliers within the Greater Manchester area. It includes over 40 member hotels of different grades, across 5,000 employees and 6,000 hotel bedrooms. Member brands include the Radisson Edwardian, the Midland Hotel, Crowne Plaza City Centre, Malmaison, Novotel, and Jurys Inn.
