Belgraves appoints Andrew Coney as general manager
Andrew Coney, the former general manger of the InterContinental London Westminster, has joined Belgraves hotel in the same role.
He left the InterContinental prior to the announcement in July that the hotel, which opened in December 2012, was going to be retagged under the Hilton Worldwide luxury brand, Conrad.
Belgraves, which opened in London in February 2012, marked the UK debut for US-based Thompson Hotels. The 85-room hotel includes the 80-seat Pont St restaurant, headed by chef Sophie Michel, a library bar and fitness centre.
Earlier in his career, Coney was deputy general manager of Mayfair's Westbury hotel before going on to be appointed general manager at Slaley Hall in Northumberland, London's Cavendish and Waldorf hotels. He also opened the Cedar Court Grand Hotel and Spa, York's first five-star property.
Coney said: "I'm very excited to be joining the fantastic team at Belgraves, the first transatlantic outpost for the innovative Thompson Hotels brand. This is such a prestigious property, which encapsulates New York attitude in the heart of London's Belgravia and I can't think of a better place to begin the next chapter of my career."
