The Langham, London to undertake £7.5m refurbishment

The five-AA-star, 378-bedroom Langham, London is to create a new luxury suite as part of a £7.5m refurbishment programme in the lead up to the hotel's 150th anniversary in 2015.

Featuring up to six bedrooms, the 450 sq m Sterling suite will offer a personal butler service, a media lounge and extra security features.

Hospitality design company Richmond is creating the new interior, inspired by the Regency period. The bedrooms, which measure an average of 33 sq m, will feature Nespresso coffee machines and upgraded bathroom products and enjoy direct access to the hotel's fitness centre and swimming pool, as well as access on to Regent Street. There will also be a four-bedroom apartment, aimed at families and long-stay guests, as well as family studios.

The final part of the renovation project will include the creation of the Langham Club Lounge, which will offer private check-in and check-out, a personal concierge, adult- only drawing room and a library. Complimentary services will include premium broadband internet access, the pressing of three items of clothing upon check-in, two hours use of the The Loft private events space, full daily breakfast, all-day refreshments, afternoon tea, early evening cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

Duncan Palmer, managing director and regional vice-president Europe, Lagnham Hospitality Group, said the renovation will be "key" in elevating the hotel to the next level of luxury. "The Regent Wing will be a sanctuary for guests who prefer the feeling of a private and discrete residence whilst the Langham Club Lounge and Sterling Suite will provide the ultimate in luxury amenities and service aimed at the most discerning clientele".
