La Sala Woodford Green opens its doors

The international restaurant brand La Sala opened its doors in Woodford Green, Essex last Tuesday with a launch event attended by a host of high-profile footballers and celebrities including shareholders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, David Bentley and Stephen Carr.

Chairman, James Horler (chief executive of 3Sixty Restaurants) has been entrusted with the brand in the UK by owners Ian Radford, Claire Stratton and Rob Segal who have developed the brand in Spain starting with their first venture Buddha Beach, now Sala Beach, on the seafront in Marbella.

It was football agent Rob Segal who helped to bring in Carr, ex-Spurs winger David Bentley, and defender Dean Austin as shareholders.

La Sala now has four Marbella venues including Sala Beach, a beach club, La Sala, a bar and restaurant, Aqwa Mist, a nightclub and El Rincon de La Sala, a bar and restaurant.

Shareholder, Oxlade-Chamberlain, explained: "La Sala has a great vibe and I'm really pleased to be a part of it. The interior is stunning and can accommodate 140 diners and although the launch was all about the bar atmosphere the day to day social buzz remains but in a restaurant environment.

Chairman James Horler said after the event: "La Sala is now officially the place to eat, drink and be seen not just in Essex but in the UK".

Since the online booking system for the UK La Sala went live last week, over 3,000 people have booked into the restaurant.

Head chef Alex Dinghile said that some of the most popular dishes include fillet of beef carpaccio with a rocket and black olive salad and shaved parmesan or sizzling garlic tiger prawns cooked with fresh chilli, garlic and smoked paprika as appetisers. The most popular main course is the full rack of BBQ pork ribs for two with hand cut chips, homemade coleslaw, crispy onion rings and corn on the cob.

Average spend per person comes in between £55-£75 per head and the restaurant also has two private dining areas: the Laurent Perrier room seats eight and overlooks the main restaurant and the Marques de Riscal room in the basement seats 20.
