Kit and Tim Kemp (pictured) have been named Independent Hotelier of the Year at the Independent Hotel Show, while the Pig on the Beach was named Outstanding New Hotel of the Year.

The awards shortlist is nominated by industry leaders and the winners are voted for by show attendees.

Kit and Tim Kemp were recognised for their influence on the boutique hotel scene, having opened their ninth hotel, Ham Yard in London, this year.

Meanwhile, Robin Hutson's newly opened the Pig on the Beach in Studland, Dorset, was credited with fast becoming one of the most desirable hotels in the country for its laid back luxury and sophistication.

Commenting the Independent Hotelier of the Year award, Kit Kemp said: "We're really flattered and quite surprised to win this award. It's been a busy and a big year for us with the opening of Ham Yard hotel complete with bowling alley, theatre, apartments and shops."

Hutson added: "We're delighted to win the Outstanding New Hotel of the Year award. It's a big team effort launching any new hotel and huge thanks must go to everyone involved."
