Sofitel and Premier Inn top Which? rankings
Sofitel and Premier Inn have topped a consumer survey as the best-rated UK hotels, while Britannia Hotels has come bottom for a second year running.
The survey by consumer group Which? asked nearly 6,000 people to rate their experience of stays in small and large hotel chains.
Sofitel and Premier Inn, despite their different price points, ranked first and second respectively.
The ratings were based on nine categories, which include cleanliness, customer service and value for money.
Sofitel scored an average overall customer score of 83%, while Premier Inn scored 82%.
Britannia Hotels sat at the foot of the rankings once again, ranking worst of the 29 chains rated. It scored just 33% and its hotels were criticised by Which? members for being "run down" and "well past their best-buy" dates.
The third-highest rated hotel group was Warner Leisure Hotels (80%), while Hampton by Hilton was fourth with 78% alongside Q Hotels, which also scored 78%.
