Prezzo to open 250th site

Restaurant group Prezzo is set to open its 250th site later this week.

The company is opening its new Prezzo Italian restaurant in Newcastle city centre. It will have seating for 118 guests spread across the ground and first floor as well as an outside area.

The news comes after the group accepted a takeover offer from Texas private equity business TPG earlier this month, worth £304m.

The company was founded in 2000 in Oxford, and chief executive Jonathan Kaye was named winner of the Group Restaurateur of the Year Catey in 2011.

Kaye said: "We are thrilled to have reached this milestone."
