JD Wetherspoon to open 100-room Dublin hotel
JD Wetherspoon is set to open a 100-room hotel in Dublin after it purchased a hostel in the city centre.
The company said it would invest more than €4m (£3.2m) to convert Camden Hall hostel into a pub and hotel with the creation of up to 75 new jobs.
Wetherspoon chairman Tim Martin said: "We are pleased to have acquired this excellent building in the heart of Dublin.
"Our aim is to build a pub and hotel on the site and we believe both will be assets to the city."
Wetherspoon has also acquired a former bank and retail unit in Waterford in the Republic of Ireland.
On Tuesday (16 December) the company will be opening its second pub in the Republic of Ireland, the Forty Foot in Dun Laoghaire.
