The Richmond to open in east London in 2015

The Richmond, a new restaurant and bar in east London, is set to open in spring 2015.

Jointly owned and operated by Brett Redman and Margaret Crow, it will sit in what was originally a pub, the Richmond Arms, in Queensbridge Road.

Redman is an Australian chef and restaurateur who is known for setting up Elliot's in London's Borough Market.

Meanwhile Margaret Crow, who is from Texas, is a stylist and fashion consultant.

The site is currently being refurbished but will be turned into a neighbourhood restaurant with antiques dealer Adam Bray designing the space to give it a "warm, elegant and inviting atmosphere".

The menu will feature snacks, comfort food and raw dishes.

The venue will also play host to a raw bar serving several types of oysters and clams, as well as a selection of carpaccios and tartares.

The Richmond will be open seven days a week and will open early in the evening during the week for snacks and an "oyster happy hour".
