Katie Benson appointed general manager of Jumeirah Carlton Tower

The five-red-AA-star, 216-bedroom Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London has announced the appointment of Katie Benson as its new general manager.

Benson, a hotelier with 30 years of global experience, joins the 216-bedroom hotel from Langham Group, where she was most recently chief executive and executive director of Langham Hospitality Investments, as well as regional vice president for the Americas and Caribbean for Langham Hospitality Group.

Previously based in London, when she combined her role as regional vice president for the Americas and Europe with the position of managing director at Langham London (2009-2013), she takes over from Derek Picot, who left the hotel in September last year after spending 11 years in the role.

Benson was previously based in London, when she combined her role as regional vice president for the Americas and Europe with the position of managing director at Langham London (2009-2013), where she relaunched the property following an extensive renovation and established a partnership with Michel Roux Jnr and Albert Roux at the Roux at the Landau restaurant.

A joint British-Australian citizen, Benson has also worked as managing director of Langham hotels in Melbourne and Hong Kong, and held several senior executive positions for Starwood Hotels and Resorts throughout the Middle East, including Dubai, as well as in Australia and China

Benson said she was delighted to return to London, a city she knows welll from her childhood and previous roles.

"I have long admired Jumeirah Carlton Tower due to its enviable location and long-standing reputation as one of the city's top hotels, and I look forward to working with the team to enhance that reputation."

In her new role, Benson will report to Doris Greif, regional vice president, Europe, for Jumeirah Group.
