Oakman Inns agrees terms on the Lazy Cow in Warwick
Oakman Inns has confirmed that it has agreed terms in taking over the Lazy Cow in Warwick.
The site was rebranded from the Globe hotel in 2010, after freeholder Urban & Country Leisure (UCL) invested £1.5m in the site.
UCL has since opened three further Lazy Cow sites in Salisbury, Solihull and Stratford-upon-Avon.
Oakman Inns has proposed changing the name back to its historic title, the Globe Inn, though chief executive Peter Borg-Neal said the group would invite locals to have their say on the new name.
He added: "We have held long discussions with Urban & Country Leisure (UCL) and the site's freeholder, Downing Capital and I am delighted to say that we have agreed terms in principal and are close to signing contracts.
"Warwick is a great town with a superb reputation as a thriving county capital with a huge programme of community activities and engagement and we have admired this site for a long time."
He said that Oakman Inns planned to retain all current staff when the deal completes.
"We also hope that some of them will want to join our management training schemes and to develop careers within our company which is planning to open three further new operations before June 2015," he said.
