Delaware North bags South Park Stadium

Delaware North has scooped a lucrative catering contract at South Park Stadium that could be worth more than £200m.

The caterer was appointed by the stadium operator, Vinci Concessions, but declined to reveal the value of the 20-year deal to deliver match day and non-match day catering and hospitality services at venue in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

However, it could be worth between £8m and £9m a year, according to one industry expert, while another suggested the annual turnover could reach more than £10m.

The iconic stadium, made famous by the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, will host five Rugby World Cup games before becoming the home of Premier League football club West Ham from the start of the 2016-17 season and the base of UK Athletics hosting the World Athletics Championships in 2017.

Doug Tetley, managing director at Delaware North UK, commented: "The legacy of the Olympics will forever endow the stadium with fame and prestige, and it is an honour that Delaware North will play an integral role in the next stage of the journey.

"We have global experience in providing stadium hospitality and catering with operations across four continents. It is this expertise that Delaware North will bring to the South Park Stadium, ensuring that we deliver a world class service to visitors, fans and spectators in the coming years."

Delaware North was founded in the US in 1915. It re-entered the UK catering market in 2002, following almost 20 years away, with a prestigious 25-year deal at Wembley Stadium.

It now holds contracts at the Emirates, home to Arsenal, Derby County's IPro Stadium, Fulham's Craven Cottage and the Valley, the home of Charlton Athletic, and also operates a number of travel concessions at UK airports.
