The Queen becomes royal patron of the Gold Service Scholarship

The Queen has agreed to become a patron of the Gold Service Scholarship, which was presented for the third time last night at London's Claridge's hotel.

The royal patronage was announced by Alastair Storey, chairman of BaxterStorey, and chairman of the Gold Service Scholarship trustees, prior to the presentation of the 2015 award to Daniele Quattromini, manager at Club Lounge 39, a private members club operated by Lusso Catering on the 39th floor of One Canada Square, Canary Wharf.

"Her Majesty's endorsement is a huge encouragement to all of us and, I believe, reflects the value of our sector to the well-being of our nation," he said.

Storey went on to say that the Scholarship was helping to encourage young talent to join and enrich the hospitality industry.

"Great Britain has an outstanding international reputation and is a popular and historically rich destination. However we must constantly innovate to stay at the forefront of our industry globally."

The Gold Service Scholarship was founded by Willy Bauer, chairman of AB Hotels, in 2013.

Quattromini follows in the footsteps of in augural winner Rebecca Dibben, now general manager of the Forest Inn, near Bournemouth, and last year's winner, James Fleming, now guest relations executive, Berkeley hotel, London.
