Korean-style brand On The Bab to open second London site

Korean-style street food brand On The Bab is to open a second restaurant after securing a site in London's Covent Garden.

The 1,415 sq ft venue, on the site of what is currently a Notes coffee shop, comes from the team behind restaurants Koba and Nizuni, who opened the first On The Bab site in October 2013.

The group's original On The Bab site is at 305 Old Street. It serves a menu of small dishes such as rice cakes, dumplings, steamed buns, and kimchi, plus rice plates with chicken or pork, kimchi or tofu and seafood stew, and pork or vegetable fritters. It also serves Korean anju, which are typical plates designed to accompany evening drinks, and takeaways.

The lease on the new site is said to have seven years left to run, with the negotiation achieved by leisure property agency Shelley Sandzer, which has also worked on brands such as burger group Patty & Bun and soon-to-open Ninth Ward London.

Kit Alexander from Shelley Sandzer said that the Korean brand was exciting, and had secured a good location deal.
