ME London appoints general manager from Chiltern Firehouse

The 157-bedroom ME London has appointed a new general manager, the third in three and a half years.

Guillaume Marly joins the lifestyle hotel, operated by Spanish-based group Meliá Hotels International, from his previous role at André Balazs Hotels where he oversaw the launch of Chiltern Firehouse.

He takes over from Juan Asín, who was appointed general manager in April 2014 and left seven months later to join Starhotels as cluster general manager at two London properties, the Pelham and the Gore. Asín replaced Fabio Gallo, who spent two and a half years at the property, overseeing its launch in 2013.

During his 20 years working in the hotel industry, Marly has held senior roles in London at the Ritz, the Connaught, Claridges, Jumeirah Carlton Tower and the Dorchester.

He said it was an honour to be heading up ME by Meliá's flagship property. "Ever since ME London launched it has been on my radar as ‘one to watch' in London. I have an excellent team working with me and am looking forward to working on such an interesting hotel."

Alex Hugot, vice-president of global operations, Meliá Hotels International, prasied Marly for the "fantastic job he did at Chiltern Firehouse".

"ME London is the fashion-forward brand of Meliá and the group's flagship hotel," he added. "Aimed at a savvy, cosmopolitan audience we recognised the need for a well-connected general manager that not only understands the brand, but also represents it. Guillaume has the vision and the experience that ME London needs in order to retain its position as one of London's most prestigious hotels.

There are currently ME hotels in London, Madrid and Mallorca with future openings planned for Ibiza, Milan and Dubai.

ME by Meliá is one of seven brands operated by Meliá Hotels International, alongside Gran Meliá, Meliá Hotels & Resorts, Paradisus Resorts, ME by Meliá, Innside by Meliá, Tryp by Wyndham and Sol Hoteles. The group has more than 370 hotels open and in the pipeline across 40 countries.
